Interested in helping a girl find her dream dress for prom? We’re looking for volunteers for our next Dress Day at Cross Keys High School. The date is Saturday, March 10 from 9:30 to 3:30—we work in shifts, so you don’t need to be there the entire day. Volunteers are paired with a recipient for a personal “shopping” experience and are expected to be encouraging, positive, and supportive. Other duties include help with set-up, breakdown, and sign-in sheets. Snacks and fun provided! If this sounds up your alley, please fill out our volunteer form.

Truth! Beauty! Freedom! Love! You may just encounter them all at Moulin Rouge, our 3rd annual adult prom fundraising event. Please join us for what promises to be an unforgettable night on Friday, April 27 from 8 to 11 pm at Sutra Lounge in midtown Atlanta. The event will feature drink specials, lively music, fabulous prizes, and a photo booth from our friends LeahAndMark.com. Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door—and include both a signature cocktail and automatic entry into a prize raffle. 21 and up. Dress code: black tie optional.

100% of the proceeds will go toward funding programs for underprivileged teens from Cross Keys, Maynard Jackson, and Grady high schools.

That's 50 more than she had.

We counted, and the results are in: we collected over 70 dresses in one month for our first ever Dressgiving Drive! Thanks to everyone who participated in the collection—from GSU’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and Georgia Tech’s Collegiate Panhellenic Council to the offices of Sanctuary Real Estate, Turner Networks, Resurgens Orthopaedics, and three—and kudos to every woman who emptied her closet for The Prom Project. Dress Day is right around the corner, and we’re looking forward to another prom season.

In other news, we’re getting ready for our busiest time of the year. We’ll be volunteering with Project Open Hand, voting for a scholarship winner for last fall’s Be Awesome, Be Aware program, and gearing up for our biggest fundraising event of the year: our 3rd Annual Adult Prom Fundraiser. Can’t say much more right now, but here’s a hint: start practicing your cancan.

Throughout November and December, we are collecting formal dresses for our Dressgiving Drive. We’ll dry clean and donate the dresses to underprivileged girls from Cross Keys, Maynard Jackson, and Grady high schools next prom season.

Ladies! Want an easy way to donate this season? Donate your unwanted dresses to teens in need! Throughout the month of November, we are collecting dresses for our first Dressgiving Drive. Here’s how you can help:

1. Collect your dresses — prom, homecoming, bridesmaid, or any evening/formalwear

2. Drop them off at either location:

Student Services Building (Flag Building)

That’s it! We’ll dry clean and donate the dresses to underprivileged teen girls from Cross Keys, Maynard Jackson, and Grady high schools next prom season.

Here are some basic guidelines to keep in mind:

Good condition (new or gently used)
Any size, color, or style
Age-appropriate (16-18 year olds)
No casual dresses (jersey dresses, sun dresses, frocks, etc.)

Be Awesome, Be Aware Fall Kickoff

After a relaxing summer break, we’re back to school and ready for action. Last spring we implemented a new teen awareness program at Cross Keys High School called Be Awesome, Be Aware, which explores real-life topics such as career, positive body image, nutrition, sex education, and self-defense. The seven-workshop curriculum is taught by professional guest speakers, and at the end of the program, participants are eligible for the $1,000 Sanctuary Empowerment Scholarship funded by Sanctuary Real Estate.

This fall we’re excited to announce that Be Awesome, Be Aware is back for a second round at Cross Keys. Our new curriculum includes college preparation, a 5K race to raise awareness for sexual trafficking and child prostitution, teen pregnancy prevention, and social etiquette. Orientation kicks off this afternoon. Can’t wait to meet a new batch of girls and get the school year started!

The deserving winner!

For the first time ever, we awarded the $1,000 Sanctuary Empowerment Scholarship, funded generously by our sponsor Sanctuary Real Estate. The recipient was chosen based on participation in our teen awareness program Be Awesome, Be Aware, as well as an essay on what it means to be an empowered young woman. On Cross Keys High School’s Honors Night, we presented the award to senior Cathy Cornejo, whose dedication, open-mindedness, and standout essay impressed us all on the Board of Directors. Ms. Cornejo is the first member of her family to graduate from high school and attend college. Congrats again, Cathy!
